Why see Dolly Parton's Smoky Mountain Christmas Carol?

Christmas, Dolly Style!

Get into the holiday swing of things with Dolly Parton's Smoky Mountain Christmas Carol, a stunning holiday-themed musical with songs penned by the beloved legend herself! For this strictly limited engagement, an ensemble cast and live acoustic band will stage this fabulously festive take on the season, set to Dolly's specially written tunes. So, dust off your cowboy boots and Santa hats, 'cause it's Christmas with a country twist!

What Is The Story?

Based on both Parton's festive feel-good hit Smoky Mountain Christmas and the Yuletide classic A Christmas Carol, and with a book by David H. Bell, the story transports the action to the mountains of Tennessee, where mining company bigwig Ebenezer Scrooge reigns tyrannically. As in the original, Scrooge has a date set with destiny, meeting the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future, who hold a mirror up to his curmudgeonly ways.

Originally debuting in St Paul in 2018, this glorious new show has become a seasonal mainstay!

I Loved It!!

I saw this show on it's last weekend in Boston. I am a fan of Dolly Parton and of Dickens' Christmas Carol. I thought it was very well written to fit a 1930's coal mining town. The set with all the moving parts transformed easily to portray the different scenes the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future took Scrooge to. Costumes changed easily as well. The band and actors were fabulous. Two highlights stand out for me. First was the inclusion of "Once Upon a Christmas" - one of my all time favorite songs performed by Dolly and Kenny Rogers. Second was the use of the very talented fiddle player as the silent ghost of Christmas future. The haunting notes set the perfect mood for this section. As the wife of a former Berklee College of Music instructor and a professional musician, I have been to many Broadway, community and school productions. This musical meets the mark in portraying this classic story in an Appalachian setting. ... Read more

Great show to get in Christmas spirit

Saw the show with wife and two teenage kids. We all loved it. Music and acting is excellent. It is hard to find entertainment that is not cynical and dark these days. This is a great show to get you in the Christmas spirit. Go see it. ... Read more
